Anmol Shiksha: Platform for India’s rural and urban education

Anmol Shiksha which means Precious Education is started by me, Sehar Bajwa after I was inspired by an article [Times of India, December, 22, 2015 issue] on How to make India great, written by Mr. Azim Premji, Chairman, Wipro Ltd. after he had travelled through the districts, small towns and villages of Karnataka.

I am a student of class-11 and consider myself fortunate to have acquired an education from one of the finest institutions in the country and had the privilege to undertake two undergraduate courses from Harvard University last summer wherein I also participated in the Summer Servers Program which helps to reach out to the local communities and the physically challenged in the Boston area.

My approach is to nip the problem at its bud i.e. to create a collaborative effort of our local educated resources and start an after school with a meaningful knowledge attached to it. This would not interfere with the normal school process as one cannot override the education process designed by the government and would not like to get into any confrontation issues on this front.

We would impart relevant, practical value added education to our youngsters and instil in them a sense of pride and achievement and flavour for life. Children develop skills for life through character development, personal fitness, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and vocational preparation. All these encourage students to become heroes and moves them to “stick their neck out. Unlike the current system, we would be graduating the doers, makers and cutting-edge thinkers the world needs.

We would be building students who are  “innovation ready” — meaning that along with their mortarboards, they receive the critical-thinking, communication and collaboration skills that will help them invent their own careers. My education system would be centered on 3 key vectors, namely, Leadership Focused, Entrepreneurship Driven and Moral Value Centric along with fostering Team Work. Entrepreneurship education benefits students from all socioeconomic backgrounds because it teaches kids to think outside the box and nurtures unconventional talents and skills besides creating opportunity, ensuring social justice, instilling confidence and as an end result stimulating the economy.

For India to emerge as a super power, Indian youth in the rural areas as well as in its urban sectors desperately need an education system which either makes them employable or capable of starting out on their own and later after tasting success, ultimately become job creators. Anmol Shiksha will be a simple plug and play platform where anyone can pick up content and deliver it to his local area. I pledge to provide every resource possible to make Anmol Shiksha a household name in practical education and am ambitious to see it scale on a pan India basis. I am confident the educated youth along with all NGOs and various sections of the society will come forward to make this venture a success in their respective backyards.

Seeking all the blessings from EVERYONE plus God.

Jai Hind!
